"Cross-country skiing is an important part of my life, as I have been doing this sport since I was 7 years old. On my two cross-country skis I find the perfect physical balance - I can hardly imagine them being gone!"
At the age of 14 Nils moved to the ski boarding school in Willingen and thus started his cross-country skiing career. Until the 2016/17 season he was mainly active in the German Cup series. In this season he also had his first bigger successes with the victory of a Euroloppet (Ganghoferlauf) in freestyle technique.
Only 2 weeks later, Nils became German Champion over 50km in the freestyle technique in the well-known Oberwiesenthal and one day later, he finished 3rd in the team sprint. He achieved further successes in 2019 at the König Ludwig Lauf, where he became German Champion again at the first German Championship in the 50km classic technique ski marathon. In 2020 he won the International Ganghofer Lauf over 50km classic technique.
