Javier Gurpegui
"I spend a lot of days on the skis and under very changing conditions. Whether it is a hard interval session or a technical competition, my ski choice is always clear: Kästle TX65 WC. It is incredibly light-weight and the fantastic downhill performance makes it the best choice for a “Skimo”-athlete."
For someone born in Valladolid, where mountains are quite exotic, winter sports are not the most popular activity. However, thanks to his father’s love for skiing Javier was regularly on skis since the age of four. He started ski touring when he was 14 - racing followed a year later. Since then he has been competing for five seasons. After finishing high school two years ago Javier decided to study in a place where he can pursue his dream of skiing daily.
He ended up in Innsbruck (AUT) where he currently studies Business & Management. Living so close to the snowy mountains has allowed him to improve his performance significantly. In his first year with Kästle, he already managed to represent Spain in the ISMF Ski Mountaineering World Cup in Andorra.
