Alain Payot grew up in Chamonix at the foot of Mont Blanc, learned to ski there as a child, and spent a lot of time skiing in the region until he started traveling the world. Before globetrotting, however, he trained as a ski instructor and mountain guide at home, initially spending a lot of time in France and also in Patagonia.
After that, he wanted more and sought adventure on every continent, but Chamonix is still his home base. After exploring different parts of the world, he always appreciated returning to Chamonix.
